Ramsey Campbell at 60

2024 commemorates 60 years since horror legend Ramsey Campbell's publishing debut, and Flame Tree are celebrating this incredible milestone with a series of events, offers and special releases over the next few months.

Born in Liverpool in 1946 and hailed as "Britain's most respected living horror writer" by the Oxford Companion to English Literature, Ramsey Campbell has garnered more accolades and awards throughout his career than any other living horror writer. With a repertoire spanning decades, Campbell has captivated readers worldwide with his mastery of subtle horror and intricate storytelling, with fans including luminaries such as Neil Gaiman, who calls him "the finest living English writer of subtle horror", and Guillermo del Toro, who has praised him as "an absolute master of modern horror".

Nick Wells, Publisher of Flame Tree:

"Ramsey is the standard bearer for imaginative literature, a shining example of the "show don't tell" excellence of a truly great writer. His effortless prose is unmatched, and his deft use of language animates the carefully crafted storylines in an unparalleled body of work, recognized by his peers, his readers, and his many publishers over 60 years, the latest, (and surely, the most proud !) being Flame Tree.”

Our celebrations feature a range of activities and releases to honour Campbell’s legacy, including: monthly ebook deals & paperback bundles, giveaways of signed books & anniversary swag, video content and virtual events, and the release of a brand new novel, The Incubations, and  special Ramsey Campbell editions of short story collections from M. R. James (The Damnations) & Lovecraft (The Invocations), emphasising Campbell as the torch-bearer of their great traditions into the 21st century.
